The Ansonia Bike Tour
It's October 2006 - I'm here in the library looking over some pictures taken from a month ago ... time to get them on a CD...
This CD is a "get out and see how it was" bike trek of Ansonia. I have a familiarity of the imagery as it was a hundred years ago and thought it would be neat to see how the changes through time looked. A scan of a local map is included on each of the pages. The map opens in a another window by clicking on subsequent link. It indicates with a blue X a specific location where I was at the time of the photos page, as well as show the basic path I rode.
There are innumerous pictures I have accumulated through time. Many of these are found in the historical images of Ansonia/Derby books I have in the TGP Library. For some of the images I have taken, I've also included a link to the photo of what a place looked like, back when. Those pictures are taken from the 1st historical book I have obtained from the area, called Images of America - Ansonia, Published by The Derby Historical Society, and they can be seen by clicking on the link with the leaf.
All in all, it was a beautiful day to get out there and enjoy. I met a lot of nice people who shared some great stories with me. The little bike-hike gave a me a profound and respectful appreciation for this town I now live. I already know I'll one day look back and say it's the best place I've ever lived...Yep!, "Love my town!"
